Shad for sale  (Read 7307 times)

I've been holding off on this post for a few reasons I won't go into. I now have my bait dealers permit and am planning on selling fresh shad and will also sell frozen. I am planning on having bait for sale at the ACATS Lewisville tournament, actually I already have plenty of fresh. I am also thinking about meeting  people to sell, but only if there is enough demand. I am thinking I would need a little notice so #1 I have fresh and #2 I know what size people are looking for. I currently have over 10 bags of 14+ inch shad with a few 6-8 inch bags. I haven't set a firm price but think I will start with $10 for a bag  of fresh and $5 for frozen, with enough that will last an entire fishing trip (even a tourny trip). I just want to make sure people are happy with their purchase and don't feel short changed. If you know you're going to need bait at the tournament let me know and I'll make sure I hav plenty. My cell number is 214-729-1317 or you can PM me.  If you have any suggestions, ideas or complaints; please let me know so I can change things appropriately.

I'll take a bag of fresh on tourney day. I don't care about the size too much as long as they aren't little ones.

well since a frozen mush crap bag at baitshops run about 3-5 bucks thats not bad......and you cant beat fresh shad........10 bucks a bag is not a bad deal. by the time you spend gas $$, time to find fresh and you know the chance of ripping your net(only good news is that you could go get some weights from joe w/ the lead.)  + the license isnt free to re-sale.

I'd be happy to take a bag of fresh as well as long as they are over 6".  How many are to a bag?  N/m  i reread your post and saw it would be enough for a tourney.  Count me in!

you got a PM Sandy. Cool idea.

you know what is lame? ... when your partner won't even buy a bag of little ole shad for you. Especially when I have three bags ready for the tourny so he would not have to worry about it and here he goes buying himself ONE bag ... that's ok, if the moment arrives, I can always say, "what net?"  icon_wink

picking on ya partner.  In your face

I've only ever fished with frozen shad (and haven't experienced one of those wonderful catfish days yet).  What is the difference between fresh shad and frozen?  I know what frozen is but is fresh shad alive or dead?  Thanks.

fresh shad means dead shad that has not been frozen, but on ice. As long as you keep them on lots of ice they stay fresh for 3 or 4 days.

fresh could be both but i and i think most use dead. there are several reasons why fresh is better but just a few are fresh bleeds better. i know the bigger ones freeze good but they still dont bleed as good. the smaller frozen ones turn to mush once dethawed and hardly bleed. they allow fish to easily get the bait off the hook. if you have to use frozen shad over 6-8" are the best.

Actually Scott, if the tourney happens I'll take 2 bags of fresh. Need to make sure we have ample fresh bait and that may save my partner a trip.

What say you partner? We good for bait then?

We'll be good on bait for the tournament.  But thanks Scott.  Good Idea.
