Anybody know of anything that will get the skunk smell off a dog that's been sprayed?

I had a friend whos dog (Great Dane) was in the back yard and when he opened the door to let it back in the dog came running in at full speed and ran through the house spreading the fresh skunk juice all over the place. The only thing that worked for him was the old tomato juice remedy. He tried everything else, and that was all that worked.

Scott the same thing happened here. This is a friend of mines dog and when she yelled at the dog to come in the dog thought it was in trouble and shot through the house and straight to her bedroom and on the bed. She said she tried the tomato juice but that didn't help much. Thanks

a neighbors dog had a rabid skunk get into their yard, the dog ended up tearing the skunk to shreds and some how it got into the AC system (the dogs yard is right next to the AC unit) so it spread all through their house.....they moved out of their house for 2 weeks!  The idiots didn't give their dog rabies shots so they had to put the dog to sleep.

I just read some posts in the news groups that have some good ideas. They say to wash the dog a couple of times with warm water and liquid dish soap to remove the oil in the skunk spray. After that they say to use vinegar. They say that their dog got hit 3 times and this method worked for them well enough that the dog was able to sleep in the bedroom that night.

Good Luck,

Scott
