I made a trip up to Southlake this morning taking my 1964 Super Skeeter out for the first time this year.  The lakes have been too high up to now and I've been striper fishing below Denison Dam nearly every weekend since March.  Anyway, I decided to switch it up this morning of the 4th of July.

Long story short - I ended up bringing home 25 nice bream and redear.  I also caught 6 crappie in the same spot I was catching the bream/redear at which surprised me.  The crappie were 9"-10" so all went back in the lake to grow up.  These crappie had a brownish/golden color to them probably from the color of South Lake water - definitely darker than Lake Lavon crappie.  I also caught a 14" largemouth bass who also went back to fight another day.

i'll be frying up those sunfish tomorrow night for dinner!

Note:  I saw at least a dozen kayakers and two john boats on the lake this morning.  It is a good lake for kayaking.
