Sure do like that THUMP!

We started out on some usual structure and brush piles. We would mark tons of fish and get excited. But soon realized that they were mostly small fish. The bigger fish came on isolated timber. We had to fish a lot slower and more deliberate...and it was more painstaking, but that's where the better fish came from. Also they seem to like the smaller 16th ounce jig head. We went mostly old school today using Thermocline Lures's black emerald shiner (BES) and also a new one in pure orange. I think it resembles either a bream or a crawfish and they really love it.

It was nice seeing the screen light up with hundreds of fish. A very healthy fishery.

We also got to see another shad spawn. This is a picture of an egret convention on the shoreline where the shad were gathered even coming out of the water spawning.

Read an article once that a red orange color is the next most visible color behind chartreuse, to the crappie's color vision. Can't remember where I saw that but it seemed pretty scientific.

Tim, let me remind you once again, if you would hold the fish closer to the camera they would look bigger.  Beat a Dead Horse
