Ray Roberts Spillway fishing  (Read 1040 times)

Started out scouting below the dam at Lavon yesterday.  Water was muddy and only one gate was open.  Didn't even wet a line and then made a quick decision to go to Ray Roberts spillway as the reports indicated release was 3000cfs.  I got there around 9 a.m. and the banks were lined with people fishing and catching hybrids.  I saw probably 20-25 hybrid caught before I left at noon - never before saw so many hybrid caught in one spot.

I got one nice 20" hybrid, a couple of sandbass, a catfish and one big drum fishing with jigs.  I now know what lure to use after observing the others.  Making a trip to Academy this morning.

Good report Would you mind sharing the name of the lure?

Thanks.

Most people were using a 4" white sassy shad with green tail.  I caught my one hybrid on a white jig with red in the feathers (the red usually worked for me on stripers below Denison dam).
