We caught fish all summer basically from 10 to 16' of water. Fish were caught at various other depths depending on daily conditions but this has been the best producing depths.

Submerged timber was mainly targeted using soft plastics from BoneHead Tackle. Salt n Pepper slim sticks have been my go to till September then it seemed they became more finiky. I then downsized the baits to a Stump bug and used a 1/16 jig.

Once we started getting a cooling trend the bite certainly changed. I found that many times there would be a slight bump of the bait. It's harder to detect without braided line but there was definetly a peck. At first I thought it was small fish but after a while of this I thought maybe they are trying to wound the bait fish then consume it. So, when I got the slight tick I'd let the bait fall and thump. This was the trick until recently.

The past week the pattern has started to change again. The fish have moved some and will continue to. They'd moved to deeper timber and brush excluding a couple shallower piles I found them on this week. The baits have also changed. They wanted larger baits this week so 3" Slim Sticks were used and they are slamming them.

I'm excited about the water levels and the changing pattern to winter. I'll continue to post in the guide section to help others with the bite on Lavon. If anyone is interested I can also do updates on Hubbard as well? I've fished it alot with great success.

Just a few pics

Great post.  Thanks Tommy.  I like hearing your Hubbard updates as well even though I fish Lavon mainly...when I can go.  Need a few weekends of deer season behind me then I will be back out.

Went to Cypress Springs last weekend. 18' on brush proved best. 1/16 was key because they wanted it on the fall.

Stump Bugs were the bait of the day. They wanted a small profile.
