Priced this out as bass pro today.  They were sold out of all of the hellbenders (grapevine).  Going to be about a $13 lure when it is all done.  I may be too scared to actually use the thing.

I think Cabelas in Allen also carries the Hellbender and Pet Spoon.  The spoon I'm using is about 2" in length.

Depth is a function of trolling speed and amount of line let out.  I can feel it hit bottom in anywhere from 14' to 17'.  I let the line out a certain number of revolutions of my spinning reel handle so I believe I am pretty consistent on the depth I'm fishing at.

Learning one step at a time

Barrows in Richardson sells clear crank bait lure bodies. The largest is 3", 3/4 oz. A package of 5 is $10. We a use pet spoons and a mixture of various spoons. Red and white seem to do well on hybrids.
