Found a workaround to the PVC Body; a sealed glass container from the Container Store was on sale for $1.99.  Bought it, made another LED Circuit Assembly, and popped it into the container.  Check it out; it works - Sealed Glass Container.

Still like the sealed container workaround but... here is the third article in a series of four about "Making a Simple Green LED Fishing Light - Part 3 Final Assembly"

If you could make that small enough and light enough to be cast out and used like a bobber, with the lights automatically pointing down toward your baited hook, then you 'd really be onto sumpin!  icon_cool

Thanks RonnieD! Great idea... circuit board is light weight and with a few modifications it could be done!

Hardest part would be finding a clear plastic container thats waterproof, but accessible to the inside...maybe a small Tupperware-type bowl & lid...or something like that? Best use for a toy like that would be to dedicate one strong rod & reel with a heavy enough line to handle it,& just toss it out to a spot where you could just let it sit long enough to do its job, then cast your baited lines out close to it with regular night bobbers on them. Could be some potential here  icon_eek icon_idea

Question came up from a Reader on how long the light last with a 9 volt battery.  Did a test using an old 9 volt battery.  It's been on for over 36 hours... still going strong!

Going on over 54 hours.... and still counting!  This one uses the same circuit as designed in our article - Making a Simple Green LED Fishing Light.  The difference is a Sealed Glass Container is used instead of a PVC Body! Today's Video.

Stopped the testing at 96 hours!  Not bad for an old battery!
