Just finished my daughters science project and wanted to test the knowledge of the group.

Some we were testing which had a greater breaking strength. 10 pound mono or 10 pound braid, by the same manufacturer.  So I tied a scale up in the closet and hung a bucket on it.  Added sand until the line snapped and then we weighed the result again.  We did the test multiple times for each line type.

So what do you think the breaking strength of each was?  and which would you guess had a greater breaking strength.  I will add that neither of these were tournament grade line and that should help with your answers.....

28 lbs mono, 34 lbs braid

OK, I take the other side. Mono...because it stretches before it breaks unlike braid.
