Just got back from the annual family vacation in Destin, FL today.  Finally got to go out on my long awaited Gulf kayak trip.  Picked the perfect day; flat calm, light winds, and temps in the 85-90 degree range.  Picked the perfect guide too; Patrick Tarpey from Slow and Low Coastal Outfitters (http://www.slowandlowcoastal.com/) was awesome.  He put me in a Hobie Pro Angler with a MirageDrive and rudder, probably not a good idea if you already spent money on a kayak like I have…it was like the Cadillac/Lamborghini of kayaks.

It was unbelievable to be able to see 20-25 feet down to the bottom while sitting on the surface.  After catching bait, which truth be told, the trip could have ended there and it would have been awesome, we dropped two baits down on some snapper and up came two snapper one after the other.

I still have the bruise on my underarm.

Then started trolling and ended up with 5 or 6 Kings and a nice Spanish mackerel (no pic).

Can’t say enough about Patrick, it was like having an ole fishing buddy right there with you…only with more knowledge (haha).  If you go (which judging from all the Texas license plates, many of you do) look him up, he will put you on the fish…and he’s a Texas boy, so you can trust him!

1 Person $250
2 People $350
3 People $625
4 People $700

All you need to bring is the fishing license, since it is not considered a "charter boat" like the big boats (where you don't have to have a license) you have to have a regular fishing license.
