TPWD says you can't keep any fish from community parks. There are plenty who do though, unfortunately!! There isn't much of anything left in Richardson's Breckenridge park lakes.

You can keep fish from community parks. Here are the regs.. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/action/fishregs2.php?water=cfl0
Glendover pond just west of Alma and Exchange has a lot of small to medium blugill.

It does appear the reg has changed, however you still have to abide by each city's regulations, and most have catch and release only in place. To be sure, call the local Parks and Recreations Department of the city you plan to fish. Fishing is still by pole/rod & reel only, no nets.  I am still going to research this some more, because it doesn't seem right to me. Too many public community ponds can be completely fished out in a very short time if fish can be kept. Just my opinion, and I still won't keep even 'gills from community ponds and lakes. I will stick to getting my bait at Lavon where it won't get cleaned out.

Thanks desull, I do appreciate the heads up on this!

I'm thinking I will do what tpwd will allow and let the municipality try to find some other ludacris charge to bring up on me... Not nearly as scary to do  when they have it in black and white...

It's not necessarily the charge, as the concern that if a bunch of us do this often enough, at some point the next person will get nothing because there are none left to get.....

Most municipalities don't have it in their budgets to re-stock their ponds every year...hence the 'catch and release' so that all can enjoy.

I now believe that fishing is far more important than catching fish.

At the risk of someone getting their knickers in a twist....laws are laws and there for a reason whether we like them or not, or think them unfair. There are enough that ignore them...

People gripe about others keeping short fish. If you take and keep fish, disregarding the local laws, you're no better IMO.
