Believe it or not, a good Lake Fork bass fishing buddy responded very differently than I thought he would when I sent him the notice about the Yantis Catfish Tournement on Fork as a joke. Now, it seems I will be entering that with him!  icon_eek He really got enthusiastic about it. Whew, anybody have any advice for cats on Fork? I will take any and all offered!  icon_confused I know we'll have fun, but it will also be very interesting... icon_lol

If anyone else wants to know anything about this tourney, go here:

I've never fished Fork but  I am considering doing this tourny, at least one day.  The hourly payout should be interesting.  I scanned the rules but didn't see anything about rod limit.

Your local supplier of no-roll weights!

It's normally a 2 rod limit in the water at all times per person. I've fished it the past two years and came close to winning some money, seems some of the locals have always cashed in alot because it's all about chumming spots consistently. Pretty much all channels cats are brought to the scales. Make sure to have some shade cuz it's hot at this tourney!

Chase is right , it has allways been 2 rods per person and that has kept me away from it.(I suffer from A.D.D. with a minor in O.C.D.) so boardem becomes a issue at times icon_mrgreen

BUT . I just read the rules from top to bottom and I did not see any mention of rod restrictions icon_confused

Still waiting to find out if they lifted the rod limit or not. They were gonna try and work something out.

I buy a bottle with a spryer on it and fill it up with water and drop it in the ice chest.  When you get hot, spray some of the ICE COLD water on your neck/head/and whatever else you want to spray....really helps cool ya off

Thanks Doug, I have one of those spray bottles with little battery driven fan attached. Had it for a couple years, guess, I'll see how well it works! Thanks for the tip about putting it in the cooler, didn't think of that. I'm going to bring two!

I'd like to go for blue cats, maybe fish a little deeper than the channels will be.....don't know....hmm

I am not fond of it myself, I only go for my buddy Ronnie, his wife hates fishing, (likes me to go with him so he won't bug her) and his health isn't good. It's always too hot, and it never seems to fail that when we stop to fish, someone else always shows up and fishes right next to us!. For me, in the rear chair, my fishing pretty much sucks. We spend more time running around the lake looking for 'the spot' than fishing.

What is the bottom like on Fork? Would it be a drift nightmare?

Grass\hydrilla, tuff drift, have to get close to dam.

Keep your neck cool & you will be okay. Keep a wash cloth also in your ice chest to cool your neck down from time to time or get some of those neck coolers. Filling the spray bottle with ice water is good too. I have been know to have all three.

I Hate hydrilla!!  Hate isn't even a strong enough word. icon_evil

Oh well, I will play it by ear I guess, I know Ronnie is scouting the chum/baiting locals, but I really don't like that.
