me and biggie hit cooper in search of the elusive flathead and had a blast.  we had never attempted to catch them on purpose on r&r.  not knowing any better, we went to lavon on friday around 1 and started cast netting and actually got about 30 perch, but most of them were of the 2 inch variety.  we maybe left with 6 worth fishing with, but kept around 20.  lost a couple on the drive and had more di eon us cause we weren't rigged out for it.  anyways we setup somewhere that we thought we could catch blues and flatheads cause moving around much on cooper at night is a chore....

we got into the blues right away with the largest being 27 pounds, but a bunch of them around 8 - 10 pounds.  the live perch were getting hammered, but by blues and gar.  then it finally happenned!  we drug in a yeller.  didn't matter the size thsi time.  First time in over 5 years that I have actually yelled out after catching something....  we were happy that we got one on our maiden voyage for one.   

I have to say that I got a little excited a couple of times when those perch were grabbed up.   I have something new to try for summer now and will definately put in more time on these fish.  I bet I am back on cooper within the next 2 weeks somehow....  I want to try again with good bait and more than 3 rods.........
