When I fly, I always do a pre-flight inspection of the airplane to make sure the aircraft is airworthy.. This is for my passengers, and my safety.

I suggest when you go boating, to make a checklist.  an Actual checklist of things that you need to check or have on board before heading out.  and to double check your towing gear.
Safety stuff,  Legal stuff,  Emergency items.   Lifejackets, and extra rope, first aid kit, etc.

I was on the way to the lake the other day and my winch broke.  I kept feeling a soft bang everytime I took off,  but didnt think much about it.  Luckily I had my safety chain on the front lug. My boat was free riding on the trailer all the way to lavon,  and never noticed it until I got to the ramp.   Im real lucky it didnt pop off of there and hurt somebody.
