Best Fish Fry Ever!  (Read 4524 times)

We use this for Spoonbill up in Missouri but it works on Catfish too.

Ingrediants Required
FIsh - catfish,Crappie or Spoonbill
Quart of buttermilk or Beer if you like
Luoisianne Cajun mix
Frying pan/ Deep Fry pot
Crisco Oil as required

Detailed Cooking Instructions

Let your fresh/frozen catch soak in ice water overnite.
This gets all the blood out.
Then transfer it to a large bowl of buttermilk.
Soak it while you get the fryer started and mix your coating.
We like Bisquick and Cornmeal the best,  1cup of each sifted together.
but the Lousiana cajun seasoned fish coating is good too.
Take a filet of fish out of buttermilk and roll in coating.
Dip it again if you like double coated.
Deep or pan fry until golden brown.  HHHMMMM that's good. Cheesy

Alternates on coatings =
Roll once in mix, then roll in mustard sauce and coat again.
 adds nice flavor. Smiley

Alternate way is to mix a can of beer with bisquick and cornmeal,
makes for crunchy coating.  this works great if your out of buttermilk.
and a fisherman always has beer around.  icon_wink right?
Enjoy! Cool

We always fish the Ozarks for spoonbill in Warsaw,MO. just east of US. 65 Hiway. below Truman lake dam.  Favorite launch spot was White Branch Marina until the owners changed hands. Now we launch from the Warsaw city ramp. checkout the website for that area http://Http://
did not get to go last year, water was way down. but cant wait for this spring.

There is ALWAYS room for one more fishing rod in your collection!!!
