One to keep handy for early morning and late evening for Bluegill! Here is the fishing fly that we based the Foam Grasshopper on... the Betts Bream Getter. But, this one comes from a kit we picked up from Feather Craft called the Foam Spider Fly Tying Kit made by Wapsi. Looks just like the Bream Getter! Foam Spider aka Bream Getter.

Nighthawk is right....  Get a Sit on top (SOT) kayak.  You can find used ones on Craigslist or go to  and get info there as well.  Get a good PFD and ALWAYS wear it!!  Rod Holders are good. Let me know how if you want to add Bee Readys to you 'yak once you get it.  Welcome to the Plastic Navy!

Seems like every time I go to work on the boat in the afternoon, the skeeters come out and start attacking - wish there were fewer of those pesky critters!

Been sometime in updating iFishNews. Sidetracked with the day job but did get a road trip in last month.

Finally finished the video of our road trip to the Texas Coast with lots of sidetrips while enroute. Had a week off from the day job and no particular plans... so, filled-up on gas and hit the road to checkout locations along the way! Video is longer than what we normally post, but hoped to have captured some of the things we did and learned thi road trip! Road Trip to the Texas Coast and Sidetrips, too!

Anybody notice that there's a lot less bugs so far this year ? Not that I'm missing the pests, but driving home tonight I realized that I've barely had to wash my windshield this year. I do a lot of driving out in the country and my windshield usually gets plastered. With the exception of chiggers, I've hardly noticed any other bugs. The cicadas are usually deafening by now and hardly heard any at all. Few hoppers, skeeters, june bugs, flies, etc., all of 'em. Can't remeber it ever being like this.

Still sidetracked by the day job but luckily Saturday’s are open for now for some fishing. This round more jug line fishing at Lake Lavon. Was there on the Fourth of July and only caught one on rod and reel while kayak fishing. Had video but file was corrupted while transferring to the computer.

No worries… this round, able to get the video to transfer and finished editing it! Also, still working on the fishing and side trips last month to the Texas Coast and Hill Country; added a snippet to the end of this video. Do check back periodically; hope to get it posted sooner than later!

Jug Line Fishing Again...Plus!

Great time kayak fishing yesterday, even though we caught only one Catfish. Still working the video of the fishing and side trips to the Texas Coast and Hill Country. More to come. Yesterday's Pictures.

A sit on top kayak is easy to get in and out of. Find a kayak with rod holders built in or with accessory racks to mount a rod holder.

Spend a little bit more upfront and buy a nice, thick hulled kayak.
