That's a nice boat!  I want it... minus all the people. icon_lol  Sux when people don't learn how to share, but I'm sometimes guilty.  angel

Murky water like Lavon is best habitat for white crappie, clear water is best for black crappie.  Backwards thinking fish.  icon_confused

Great reports  icon_lol  Looks like the weather channel is gonna be wrong for the next couple days, too.
fyi- in my experience wind direction doesn't matter when flattie fishing.  I've considered many times fishing with the wind to my back.

I'm wanting to take up Crappie fishing, but I know every day I get out brings me one step closer to that next big one.

TOB (Time On the Bank) pays big dividends when you're persistent and patient.  Night time is the only time I want to catfish now until about August.  3am is usually about the witching hour, but you never know.  Most parks will kick you out at sundown unless you're overnight camping.  Fresh cut or live bait is all I'll use.

Welcome to the forum, peruse previous year's posts and you'll pick up everything you need to know.

That's a great assortment of catching.

Make sure you have the lake map or chip available to see where the underwater forests are.  I still come close to hitting stuff almost every time I get on that lake.  Talk with some locals and they'll fill yer heads full of lies!  icon_lol

Use fresh, big heads that are bleeding, wade your bait way out there before throwing unless the wind is really howling, be patient.  Mid-depth at night I find to work best through the summer, although many times I'll get some good fish right after sunup.  Patient perseverence.  I've found confidence helps me the most.

Amazing.  "That's why they call us 'fishermen.'"  Props to Kemp Fire & Rescue.  Glad this story was lived to tell, Bubba.

Very slow last week but I did manage a nice hybrid to go with 2 sandies.  May go try again 2day just cuz it's too windy for anything else.

Always good to get out in pursuit of the opes.  I'm glad ya'll learned a little something to get you going.  Gotta let those suckers get the whole bait in their mouth before you put the screws to 'em.  Lookin' forward to the next one.

fyi- I underestimated the fish I caught. Ended up being a 14#.  I should've had you take a pic before you left!  :d'oh:  icon_lol  The brain pistons were not firing at 2am.
45  Fishing Lake Lavon / Catfishing Forum / Re: need help from experienced boater please!!! on: April 24, 2012, 07:48:59 PM
Bank it 2morrow.  Anything over 10 can get perilous as you have to double it for the lake and gusts can be much higher.  Be patient and your day to boat it will come.
