1  Fishing Lake Lavon / Crappie Fishing Forum / Re: Small to Keeper Ratio - 25:1 on: August 07, 2017, 12:32:08 PM
We fished Saturday from 8 til about 2:30.
Dink to keeper ratio was 6:1
Ended up with 18 the biggest was 1.63 lbs.

It's been a tough summer.

Any plans for Avalon Park ?
The road in there was pretty bad last summer.

Thanks,
HT

Might try the point on the south side of the power plant.
Little Ridge park is right there.

that could save some drive time in the truck...

sounds like someone experienced the slick ramp firsthand

Naw, no problems with that.

Just a heads up.

Yes it is open, we've put in there the last three or four trips.
No floating dock to pull up to though,  it's roped off.
Rock pile to east of ramp not easy to navigate on foot.
Pretty steep bank to the west.
IE you're gonna be pulling right back up to ramp to get your buddy in the boat and IT'S SLICK !!!

Over cast may scatter them a bit.
It did last Saturday.
We'd catch 2 or 3 off a tree or a pile then have to move.
Caught fish in 12-18 feet of water, a lot of them suspended at 12-14 feet.
You fish a particular piece of cover/structure for 10 mins without getting bit, move .
Dark colored baits on overcast days, black and chartreuse is a good choice.
As the day goes on if the sun breaks through switch to lighter colors.
White/chartreuse is a good choice, so is solid chartreuse.

Nice looking boat too !

As in G Lake from the Refuge ?
Gmann told me you'd been out there stalking our crappie.

Welcome aboard.

Whatever they say add 10 mph and you will be pretty close most of the time.  There are fish dying of old age on stuff you just can't fish with this wind.

Pretty close Jerry.

We went early Sunday.
It wasn't bad early on but it got that way in a hurry.
Fishing was terrible by the way. Managed 7 and that's it.

Good thread.   There is no secret spots on Lavon anymore.  Side imaging took care of that.

Very true.
Just joined the SI club.
Whole different ball game.

All of them, yesterday and today on jigs.
