1  General Area / Boat ramps and Parks / Re: Place to camp and beach the toon on: October 12, 2015, 12:56:43 PM
I'm looking for recommendations for a place to camp where I can beach the toon right by the site.  Taking the 9 and 7 year old so I'm most interested in kid friendly locations.  I like isle du bois on ray bob but I've never brought my boat there.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Clear lake park has some camp sites right next to the water. I've stayed there before and have left my boat either beached ir anchored right off the shore there....never had a problem.

I dunno, I guess I'm just complaining then.

I've had several of them cross my wake almost immediately behind my boat, almost hit my side before turning off etc. trying to stay away from the club park area.

We saw Leroy and a Collin sherif writing a lot of violations two Saturday's ago. When they were, one guy skier was being confrontational to the cop while the other was filming with his phone.

3  General Area / General Discussion / What's up with the Jet Skiers? on: August 25, 2015, 03:23:47 PM it just me or are the moron jet skiers from other lakes invading lavon and being morons here too?

I drove a 2013 F-150 with Eco boost and it made a believer out of me. When I floored the gas, it set me back HARD!!!

I posted on the FB group that I saw a bass boat pulling into Collin Park so I gave the marina a call.  Turns out they are "unofficially open" and will let you launch at your own risk from the parking lot.  However, I heard a fella tried taking his bass tracker over there and couldn't get in water deep enough to float it without getting his truck wet to not sure if it is truly an option or not.

Might go over there soon and check it out.  Anybody tried it?

True to a point.. Collin park is only letting folks who have a slip, launch their boats at the north ramp. The COE came by last Saturday, raised hell at the park and shut the ramp down all together. They stated that the grease and oil on the undersides of the vehicles are polluting the water.

I guess I shouldn't grease my trailers wheel bearings anymore if I went with that logic.

Article in the DMN said it could take two months to drop area lakes to pool level. Having to juggle different lakes as the Trinity is still much higher than normal.

Well....there goes the 2015 lake season!

11  General Area / Boat ramps and Parks / Water level too high for ramps? on: May 15, 2015, 09:50:36 AM
Got a question that has probably not been asked since the last time the lake was above full pool. At what water level is the lake too high for us to use the ramps?

The COE didn't release any water out of lavon over the weekend. I heard it's because south of LRH got so much rain that if Hubbard filled and started releasing, it would cause major floods down stream Mean while lavon is +3.8 feet. LRH is -.5 feet....
13  General Area / General Discussion / Re: North Texas Rainbow Boat Event May 2nd on Lavon on: April 22, 2015, 09:10:59 AM
With the lake level up again and the warm weather returning it's time to kickoff the boating season in style. We'll be holding our first event on Lake Lavon in almost 2 years next Saturday May 2nd. For the RBC members who don't have a slip on the lake we'll be using the Tickey Creek park area to launch and gather from. The event will start around 11am and go through 6 pm. For more details just let me know and I can email you the newsletter. Spoiler must be of legal drinking age to participate.

We'll also do our annual Memorial Day Weekend Regatta on May 23rd and 24th. Last year on Ray Roberts we had 82 boats and jet skiers participate. The previous year on Lake Lavon it was 77. We've added a few dozen members this year, so hopefully our turnout will be even more awe inspiring.

Rainbow boat club? WTF is this about?
