Seems like every time I go to work on the boat in the afternoon, the skeeters come out and start attacking - wish there were fewer of those pesky critters!

Way to go Tim!

I was out Saturday with my son who came down for Father's Day.  It was slow for us too.  Talked to a guy who was fishing in the same area we were and he reported it to be slow also.
He said a couple of days earlier he caught a bunch of crappie off of one brushpile where we were fishing.

Just my luck - it is always better a couple of days before I get to go fishing.

Went to South Lake again Saturday morning (May 19th).  The wind was kicking up somewhat and making it hard to fish the reed line where I catch most of the fish.

I kept at it and it paid off - managed to catch another good mess of bluegill.  I'll skip to the final results - see attached picture.

Was it full of crappie?

Went out to Little Ridge Saturday for some fishing.  Saw that the courtesy dock was cordoned off due to missing planks on the walkway to the dock.

Anyone know how long it will take to get this fixed?

Is the East Fork protected ramp still unavailable due to the road being messed up?

Finally made a trip this morning to South Lake in Farmersville for some bluegill/bream fishing.  I used my 1964 Super Skeeter which was perfect for this size lake.
Got there about 8:00 a.m. - beautiful morning to be on the water.  Brought back 25 for a fish fry tomorrow - yummy.

I had to chase down the title to the boat as it didn't have a title when I bought it  I eventually found the registered owner and he helped me get a title.
He told me he bought the boat new when he was 15 years old.  He was too young to drive at the time so he had to have his dad tow the boat to South Lake when he wanted to go fishing.
The boat went thru a couple of different owners since he sold it and now approximately 54 years later I own it and brought it back to South Lake today for some fishing.

They were releasing 4000 cfs when I went by the dam around 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon.  It was shoulder to shoulder fishing on the bank below the dam and I saw a few good stringers of healthy 13" to 15" fat sandbass and also saw one hybrid on a stringer.  It was on last night!

With all the rain we got last night I'm surprised the gates aren't open wider now.

In the picture, you can see a couple of good stringers of sandbass by the guy in the blue shirt in the middle of the picture.
P.S.  I think you have to be logged in to be able to see the pictures.

Made the trip to Waterloo Park again this morning.  Limited out and managed to catch one of the Palomino Rainbow Trout (the one in the middle).

Almost 5' above normal pool.  Ought to be any day now.

Wohoo!  Lavon is over 1/2 foot above normal pool and still rising.  It came up 2 and 1/2 feet since the rain started Tuesday.  Hubbard discharge is 8000cfs in preparation of Lavon gates opening.

I'll be a dam fisherman again as soon as the gates open up on Lavon.

Were you in the float tube?  Hope you had your thermal undies on cause I froze my nads off just going out the front door to get the Sunday morning paper. icon_cool

P.S. I thought today was February 11  - not April 1st.

Made the trip to Waterloo this morning for another go at the trout.  It was 54 degrees this morning when I left Allen and 35 degrees when I go to Waterloo Park.  Managed to get a limit of 5 but it was definitely slower since the cold front blew thru.

It was 31 degrees when I left at 10:00 a.m..  May give it another go tomorrow morning if the roads aren't icy.

Went up to Waterloo Park yesterday (Saturday, January 13).  Temperature was 27 degrees at 7 a.m..  Left there by 9:30 a.m. with a limit of trout caught on corn.
Had to de-ice the rod tip a couple of times when the water on the line would accumulate there and freeze up as I reeled in.
15  General Area / General Discussion / Baby its cold outside on: January 01, 2018, 10:32:02 AM
Drove out to the power plant this morning and it was definitely cold with a wind chill close to zero with the north wind coming across the lake.
The lake was warmer than the air so got a couple pictures of the steam coming off the lake - it was pretty to see that.

Happy New Year to All.
