Been tinkering with "material in the scrap bin".  Came up with a Mini Balsa Wood Lathe using wood, a small electric motor, and nuts/bolts/nails.  Works well making Balsa Popper Bodies. Do stay tuned; plan to post an article on how we made the Mini Balsa Wood Lathe!

Here is the article on making a "Simple Mini Wood Balsa Wood Lathe".  Has been working well for us in making Tube Popper Flies.  Hope others find it useful, too!

Here is a link to "Fly Tying - Tube Popper Fly". It's the fishing fly that uses the balsa popper bodies turned on the mini balsa wood lathe.

Variant of the pattern... it's the DIY Tube Popper Fly that we used the other day at Stoney Hollow Pond.  The version we used at the pond was painted yellow. These are painted white. Do check it out and give it a try fishing them on your local ponds this Season!
